In case you've been out of the loop, Mayor Coleman gave his State of the City address and outlined his initiatives and focus for 2007. Among the initiatives discussed were promises to see continued efforts in the HOME AGAIN initiative aimed at dealing with housing blight and a declaration that we are well on our way to meet the goal of 10,000 downtown units by 2012.

The other major announcement directly pertaining to the downtown area, which was also announced earlier this week, was about the Scioto Mile riverfront park plan that is beginning a fundraising effort to raise about $40 million in capital to build the proposed river-walk park connecting Battelle Park to Bicentennial Park. The city and AEP have both already pledged $10 million each.

The biggest news that will potentially have a major effect for Columbus' urban neighborhoods is an initiative to raise funds for improvements in the form of a Bicentennial Bond Package. Read on...
