As I settle back into my new and expanded position here with Community Building Partners, one of the supporting companies behind Jeffrey Place, I'm watching my time and focus both quickly narrow in scope and availability. While this in some ways may mean I have less energy to put into expanding RetroMetro as quickly as I would like, my dwindling time is simultaneously met with an expansion of activity and buzz that I'm seeing throughout various organizations and small business owners in and around the downtown Central Business District. What I am realizing personally, and also in a global sense in Columbus, is that we won't reach our goals and objectives (a collective vision still yet to take shape for the city) unless we relearn how to operate as a larger community that does not solely rely on the government for all the answers. Sure, that's nothing new coming from my soap box. But there is a buzz around town that is becoming much more tangible these days from where I'm sitting...
